| The engineered standard establishes the quantity of
time it should take to perform the work involved in producing
product(s) or service(s) and offer 'fair' goals for an employee, a
department, or a company. In essence, the standard defines, as
scientifically as possible, a 'fair day's work'.
You will not be venturing into the unknown or untested. The MSD
values have been proven again and again in a variety of jobs,
companies, and industries. Once you have established engineered
standards, they are the springboard to:
- Increased productivity.
- Reduced unit labor costs.
- Better scheduling.
- Improved supervision.
- Better estimating.
- Improved morale.
- Strengthened communications between production and
management.
- More effective future cost reduction programs.
Work simplification, methods studies, value engineering,
scheduling, and other cost reduction efforts give far better results
when based on the foundation of engineered standards. |
